a topical antibiotic.
indication It is prescribed in the treatment of second- and third-degree burns to prevent infection by microorganisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
contraindications Known hypersensitivity to this drug or to sulfonamide prohibits its use.
adverse effects Among the more serious adverse effects are hypersensitivity reactions and superinfections, particularly by Candida albicans.
