lynx medium-sized wild cats in the family Felidae, with characteristically short tails and tufted ears. They are generally spotted and of a rufous hue, though there are plain and fawn (bay lynx) varieties. Well known species are Lynx (Felis) canadensis, L. (Felis) lynx and L. (Felis) rufus.
