Etymology: L, lympha + reticulum, little net; Gk, osis, condition
subacute granulomatous inflammation of lymphoid tissue with proliferation of reticuloendothelial cells, occurring most commonly as the result of a cat scratch. No causative agent is known. The disorder is characterized by the formation of an ulcerated papule at the site of the scratch, fever, and tender lymphadenopathy, sometimes progressing to suppuration. Also called cat scratch fever.
