Patient discussion about lower.

Q. Can omega-3 make my cholesterol lower? My doctor told me that I have too much cholesterol in my blood, and that it can cause heart attack or stroke, but if I keep it low than my risk will be lower. He told me that because it’s not that high level I can try to change my diet before I have to start taking medication. I heard that omega-3 can make my cholesterol level low. Is that true? Do I have to take it in pills? Is it safe?

A. You can consume omega-3 either as pills or in fish oil, fatty fish (such as salmon) and vegetarian food such as flaxseed and flaxseed oil, canola oil, soybean oil, and nuts.

Q. i suffer from a really strong lower back pain? how can i ease the pain and treat it correctly?

A. First, take some time, don't do much, take ibuprofen, go on walks and stretch like crazy, three times a day if you can. I stretch at my desk job all the time. Just throw my leg up when I start hurting and stretch the back of my legs. I am a lot more problematic (had a couple of back operations)but that is the basics. Like I have told others. Best way to ultimately tell is by seeing a nurosurgeon or orthopedic and get an MRI. It is spendy but it tells the story. They may say operate but it doesn't mean you have to. They are professionals, find good docs, ask around. Good luck.

Q. Uncomfortable in my left-lower abdomen. But it is not acute or dull pain at all. I'm starting to feel uncomfortable in my lower-left abdomen. I roughly guess it started summer in 2008. Certainly, it's not acute or even dull pain at all. But it makes me very uncomfortable when I sit on the chair. I can feel it by sitting on the chair. Such uncomfortableness seems to reside in somewhere between my left leg and abdomen. It is under my navel, and to the left, extending to the my left flank. Once again, I can sense it by touching something developing (With my fingers, I gently pressed that area and, I realized that there's a difference between pressing on the lower-left abdomen and the lower-right abdomen.) But it is not something swollen, and not a hard thing. I've never had the caecum removed. I'm 40 years old, East asian. I quitted smoking in early 90's. In Octocber, 2008 I found my blood pressure pretty good (I can't remember it, though). My life is quite sedentary (I'm a graduate student.) I guess I spend most of my daily time on the chair. Thanks for any opinion in advance.
