fluke¹

a helminth organism of the class Trematoda in the phylum Platyhelminthes, characterized by a body that is usually flat and often leaf-like. Trematodes can infect the blood, liver, intestines and lungs. All of the species that infect domestic animals are in the subclass Digenea, that is they are digenetic flukes. Members of the subclass Monogenea occur on the gills or scales of fish.
