Patient discussion about lived for. Q. Hello Bipolars. My nickname is Treebeard and I'm 36 years old. I'm Bipolar. I live in Oregon and prefer the winter over all the other seasons. Sometimes I get so excited that I can hardly control myself and at times I feel so damm down that I must slap myself in the face just to go out of the house and not feel so depressed. I was diagnosed with Bipolar when I was 25 and it really made my life harder in many ways, but also easier b/c I was able to know what was wrong with me finally. I feel better when I read other people's discussions and thoughts. I know it sounds mean, but it makes me feel better. I hope I'll be able to help this group b/c I can be very strong at times. Sometimes I'll just be asking for help. Now it your turn to tell me about your life. A. Gosh, Amy, I'm with you on the seasonal depression-thing. After the holidays, in January I spent a couple of weeks in the hospital dealing with my depression, and I'm about to do the same thing. I used to love the holidays, what makes it so bad. But I spent it alone this year, in fact it's never been the same since my partner left me 5 years ago, since my mom died 10 years ago really. I can relate to you, tho' treebeard, about your emotions going all over the place. It's unnerving, tiring. Tired of staying with my negativity; it haunts me. They'll put me back on my Abilify, I guess, and the group therapy always helps. Now that I know about this group online too, I feel comfortable that'll help too. Angie Q. How can I go about finding a free depression support group where I live? would like to find a depression support group in my area. How do I go about finding one? Google searches are turning up nothing. A. Call the help desk or receptionist of your local or nearest hospital or medical clinic. You could go to an AA meeting in your local community. A lot of people there are depressed. That's what those meetings do for people, they are a support group. You could also start one and put a community notice in your local paper. Get together with others you trust and talk. Call home and talk. Find a friend and talk. I pray. God listens. Q. What is the best US city to live in for people with Asthma? I want to find a place to move to that has a great climate for someone with Asthma. Thanks! A. I, too, have asthma and I can honestly say that the only place I have been where I wasn't bothered by it was Rapid City, South Dakota. Sounds strange because of the high elevation but Rapid City is tucked away at the base of the Black Hills. It seems to miss a lot of the bad weather, heavy snow fall, high winds...etc... Whatever you do, stay away from Dallas, Houston or Austin! It is about to Cedar Fever again in Austin! Good luck. Read more or ask a question about lived forHow to thank TFD for its existence?
