linea /li·nea/ (lin´e-ah) pl. li´neae [L.] line; in anatomy, a narrow ridge or streak on the surface of a structure. linea al´ba white line; the tendinous median line on the anterior abdominal wall between the two rectus muscles. linea as´pera a rough longitudinal line on the back of the femur for muscle attachments. li´neae atro´phicae striae atrophicae. linea epiphysia´lis epiphyseal line. linea glu´tea gluteal line. linea ni´gra the linea alba when it has become pigmented in pregnancy. linea splen´dens the sheath for the anterior spinal artery formed by the pia mater in the anterior median fissure of the spinal cord.
