A nerve that arises from the second and third cervical nerves and supplies skin of the auricle of the ear and adjacent portion of scalp.

lesser occipital nerve
Etymology: AS, losian, to lose; L, occiput, back of the head, nervus, nerve
one of a pair of cutaneous branches of the cervical plexus, arising from the second cervical nerve and ascending along the side of the head behind the ear to supply the skin. It communicates with the posterior auricular branch of the facial nerve.
