lattice
(redirected from latticing)

Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Encyclopedia, Wikipedia, Hutchinson 0.06 sec.
lattice
a pattern of regularly placed, narrow, intersecting strips, such as the geometric atomic arrangement in a crystal, as seen in x-ray analysis.

lattice theory
the interaction of multivalent antigen with multivalent antibody will, at optimum proportions of each (zone of equivalence), result in the formation of a lattice and a precipitate. In the zone of equivalence all antibody and antigen are bound in the lattice. With an excess of either antigen or antibody, the lattice is incomplete or disassembled so that the amount of precipitate is reduced; the basis for precipitin tests.
