laryngismus /lar·yn·gis·mus/ (-jiz´mus) spasm of the larynx.laryngis´mal
laryngismus stri´dulus  pseudocroup; sudden laryngeal spasm with crowing inhalation and cyanosis, usually seen in children at night.

laryngismus stri·du·lus (strj-ls, strj-)
n.
A spasmodic closure of the glottis that lasts a few seconds and is followed by noisy inspiration. Also called pseudocroup.

laryngismus stridulus,
a sudden laryngeal spasm with cyanosis and inhalation accompanied by a crowing sound, usually seen in children at night. Also called crowing inspiration, spasmatic croup, spasmodic croup.

Pseudocroup Pediatrics A childhood cough with a whoop due to spasmodic laryngeal closure with crowing inspiration, a sign of tetany Clinical Cyanosis, apnea, paresthesia, tingling of hands and feet; LS is common at night, often waking Pt Lab ↓ Ca2+, normal magnesium.
