Related to kilovolt peak: kilovolt potential
kilovolt peak (kVp)
a measure of the maximum electrical potential in kilovolts across an x-ray tube. Most diagnostic x-ray machines have a kVp of 40 to 150. However, x-ray equipment is usually operated at the minimum potential necessary for an examination.
kil·o·volt peak
(kVp) (kil'ŏ-vōlt pēk)The highest voltage applied across an x-ray tube; it influences the penetrating power of the x-ray beam.
kil·o·volt peak
(kVp) (kil'ŏ-vōlt pēk)Maximum voltage used in x-ray exposures.
kilovolt
one thousand (103) volts; abbreviated kV.
kilovolt peak
the maximal amount of voltage that an x-ray machine is using; abbreviated kVp.
