Comment: It has been suggested that ketosis alone cannot explain the anticonvulsant effect of the ketogenic diet, and that regulation of blood glucose may be at least partly responsible for the benefits.
Trials of the ketogenic diet found nearly half of children treated had more than a 50% reduction in seizures.
Byline: ANI Washington, July 22 (ANI): Researchers at Johns Hopkins Children's Center say that children on the high-fat ketogenic diet to control epileptic seizures can be prevented from the excruciatingly painful kidney stones, which the diet may sometimes cause, by giving them a daily supplement of potassium citrate the day they start the diet.
