They can be very painful, and they must be differentiated from calluses, keratomas, lichen planus, and foreign bodies. The differential diagnosis includes keratoma, exostosis, osteoma, and fibroma. Root et al [1] and others [2-4] indicate that keratomas will develop under the central metatarsal heads as a result of increased loading and abnormal shear over an excessive period of time. |
