keratinosome /ke·rat·i·no·some/ (kĕ-rat´ĭ-no-sōm) lamellar body; a type of spherical granule in cells of the skin that migrates to the cytoplasm and discharges its contents into the intercellular space, where the granules are believed to function as a barrier against foreign substances.

A membrane-bound granule in the upper layers of the prickle cell layer of certain stratified squamous epithelia. Also called membrane-coating granule.

keratinosome 
one of the spherical granules formed near the Golgi apparatus in the skin, migrating to the cytoplasm and discharging its contents into the intercellular space, where the granules are believed to function as a barrier to penetration by foreign substances. Called also lamellar body or granule.

keratinosome
small organelle in the intercellular space of the epidermis; it has a role in retaining water and in cell cohesion. Called also Odland's body; cementasome.
