keratinosome /ke·rat·i·no·some/ (kĕ-rat´ĭ-no-sōm) lamellar body; a type of spherical granule in cells of the skin that migrates to the cytoplasm and discharges its contents into the intercellular space, where the granules are believed to function as a barrier against foreign substances.
