A traditional form of Chinese medicine called kanpo is popular in Japan but has no proven benefit in asthma.
He studied with the founder of the hospital, Tashi Rinpoche, and two of Tibet's most senior physicians, Aku Ngakwan Tenzin and Kanpo Toru Tsenam.
