iontophoretic pilocarpine test Etymology: Gk, ienai + pherein, to carry a sweat test used in the diagnosis of cystic fibrosis. Pilocarpine iontophoresis is used to stimulate production of sweat, which is absorbed from the forearm in a previously weighed gauze pad.
