intertuberous diameter

Etymology: L, inter + tuber, swelling; Gk, dia, across, metron, measure
the distance between the ischial tuberosities, a factor used in determining the dimensions, including the narrowest diameter, of the pelvic outlet.

intertuberous diameter

The distance between the ischial tuberosities. Most commonly, this measure of the female pelvic outlet is greater than 9 cm, allowing the exit of an average-sized term fetus.
