Arandomized controlled trial, which involved intermittent and daily regimens with identical dosages of pyrazinamide, showed that initial-phase intermittent regimens containing isoniazid, rifampin, and pyrazinamide were significantly less hepatotoxic than their daily counterparts (35). Further data on more intensive intermittent regimens, longer multidrug induction periods, perhaps with longer total therapy, are also needed. As intermittent regimens are essential for ambulatory programs, they have been widely explored over the past 30 years. |
