Influenzavirus B /In·flu·en·za·vi·rus B/ a genus of viruses of the family Orthomyxoviridae containing the agent of influenza B. See influenza virus, under virus.
Influenzavirus B,
a genus of viruses of the family Orthomyxoviridae containing the agent of influenza B. It affects only humans. It can cause epidemics, albeit not as severe as those caused by influenza A. Vaccination against influenza B is available. See also influenza.

Influenzavirus [in″floo-en´zah-vi″rus]
former genus name for the viruses that cause influenza, now found to be two different genera, which were named influenzavirus A and influenzavirus B.

Influenzavirus B a genus of viruses containing the agent of influenza B. See also influenza virus.
Influenzavirus C a genus of viruses containing the agent of influenza C. See also influenza virus.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (510k) clearance of its D3 FastPoint(TM) L-DFA(TM) Influenza A/ Influenza B Virus Identification Kit, which allows for the identification of influenza A virus and influenza B virus from a patient's specimen in under 30 minutes.
HI antibody testing was negative for influenza A (H1), A (H3), and swine subtype H1N1 on all serum specimens, but 1 family member had evidence of a 4-fold rise in H1 antibody titer to influenza B/Hong Kong/330/2001 (B/Victoria/2/87 lineage) virus, which suggested an acute influenza B virus infection.
The D3 Ultra kit is the only commercially available monoclonal antibody screening kit for the detection and identification of influenza A virus as well as influenza B virus, RSV, adenovirus, and parainfluenza virus types 1, 2, and 3.
