inferior /in·fe·ri·or/ (-fer´e-er) situated below, or directed downward; in anatomy, used in reference to the lower surface of a structure, or to the lower of two (or more) similar structures.

1. Low or lower in order, degree, or rank.
2. Low or lower in quality, value, or estimation.
3. Second-rate; poor.
4. Situated below or directed downward.
5. In human anatomy, situated nearer the soles in relation to a reference point.

inferior,
n a part of the body located below another; the opposite of
superior. E.g., the legs are inferior to the hands when facing the body.
