indandione

any of a group of synthetic anticoagulants derived from 1,3-indandione, including pindone and diphacinone, which impair the hepatic synthesis of the vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors (prothrombin, factors VII, IX and X). Used in human medicine as an anticoagulant and as a rodenticide in a manner similar to that of warfarin.
