22 The current study was undertaken to compare ProEx C immunocytochemical staining and the Hybrid Capture 2 hr-HPV DNA test (Digene Corporation, Gaithersburg, Md) in detecting high-grade cervical disease using liquidbased SurePath (Becton, Dickinson and Company, Franklin Lakes, NJ) cytologic specimens positive for ASC-US.
Histologic diagnosis is based on confirmation with immunocytochemical staining and electron microscopy of the lesion.
Immunocytochemical staining was performed using a standard streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase complex method (LAB-SA kits, Zymed Laboratories, South San Francisco, Calif).
