lipidosis /lip·i·do·sis/ (lip″ĭ-do´sis) pl. lipido´ses any disorder of lipid metabolism involving abnormal accumulation of lipids in the reticuloendothelial cells.
lipidosis [lip′idō′sis] Etymology: Gk, lipos + osis, condition a general term that includes several rare familial disorders of fat metabolism. The chief characteristic of these disorders is the accumulation of abnormal levels of certain lipids in the body. Kinds of lipidoses are Gaucher's disease, Krabbe's disease, Niemann-Pick disease, and Tay-Sachs disease. lipidosis [lip″ĭ-do´sis] (pl. lipido´ses) any disorder of lipid metabolism involving abnormal accumulation of lipids, including hand-schüller-christian disease, niemann-pick disease, tay-sachs disease, gaucher's disease, and other conditions.
