adjective A popular term for the frosted appearance of foci of intracavitary inflammation, which are covered with serofibrinous plaques.

icing

1. A technique of cutaneous stimulation using cold agents (12°–17°C) to evoke or facilitate reflex muscular responses in patients with central nervous system dysfunction.
2. Application of ice to a recently traumatized area in order to reduce pain, tissue damage, and swelling.
