a fleshy mass formed in the uterus by degeneration or abnormal development of a fertilized ovum.
hydatid m. (hydatidiform m.) an abnormal pregnancy resulting from a pathologic ovum, with proliferation of the epithelial covering of the chorionic villi and dissolution and cystic cavitation of the avascular stroma of the villi. It results in a mass of cysts resembling a bunch of grapes.
