Arteriolar hyalinosis The accumulation of amorphous, eosinophilic material in the walls of small arteries and arterioles, a common degenerative change in the elderly, which is most often seen in the spleen and kidneys in Pts with accelerated/malignant HTN, and DM; HA may occur in the pancreas, adrenal glands, liver, GI tract, choroid, and retina; it is rare in the heart, lungs. In a study of 33 recipients of live-donor renal allografts Sund et al22 found no significant correlation between baseline scores for glomerulosclerosis, tubular atrophy, interstitial fibrosis, arteriosclerosis, and hyaline arteriolosclerosis and graft function at 1 and 3 years after transplantation.
