The fish was identified by the Loch Lomond Fishing Trust as a humpback salmon, normally found in the Pacific rivers of Alaska or along Siberia's Arctic coast.
According to Savikko, the record catch is due primarily to the enormous number of pink or humpback salmon taken, the smallest and least valuable species.
