(hĕt″ĕr-ŏg′ră-fē) [″ + graphein, to write]
1. Writing different words from those the writer intended.
2. Spelling different from current or standard usage.
3. Use of the same letter or sequence of letters for different sounds, as th in “ thin” and “ then.”
