hepatic segment

A functional subdivision of the hepatic lobes into segments based on the branching of the right and left common hepatic duct, portal vein and hepatic artery. The term has been slightly altered, and now refers to the anterior and posterior segments of the right hepatic, and medial and lateral segments of the left hepatic lobes.
