hepatic lobule

A polygonal histologic unit of the liver, consisting of masses of liver cells arranged around a central vein that is a terminal branch of one of the hepatic veins, and at whose periphery branches of the portal vein, hepatic artery, and bile duct are located.

lobule [lob´ūl]

portal lobule a polygonal mass of liver tissue containing portions of three adjacent hepatic lobules, and having a portal vein at its center and a central vein peripherally at each corner.

primary lobule of lung (primary respiratory lobule) the functional unit of the lung; terminal respiratory unit.

portal lobule

a polygonal mass of liver tissue containing portions of three adjacent hepatic lobules, and having a portal vein at its center and a central vein peripherally at each corner.

primary lobule of lung

the functional unit of the lung, including a respiratory bronchiole, alveolar ducts and sacs, and alveoli. Called also respiratory lobule (below).

lobule quadrangularis

a lobule of the rostral lobe of the cerebellum.

lobule simplex

a lobule of the cerebellar hemispheres.

testis lobule

a group of seminiferous tubules, connective tissue and smooth muscle, the basic unit of the testis.
