hemoglobinometer /he·mo·glo·bin·om·e·ter/ (-om´ĕ-ter) an instrument for colorimetric determination of hemoglobin content of blood.

Etymology: Gk, haima, blood; L, globus, ball; Gk, metron, measure
any of several types of instruments designed to measure the percentage of hemoglobin in a blood sample. Some use colorimetric techniques, comparing the color of the blood sample with a standard red color. Also spelled haemoglobinometer.

Sahli hemoglobinometer
is based on the separation of globin from hemoglobin by treatment with hydrochloric acid to produce acid hematin which is measured by colorimetry.
Spencer hemoglobinometer
measures oxyhemoglobin by light absorption using a green filter.
