hematology /he·ma·tol·o·gy/ (he″mah-tol´ah-je) the branch of medical science dealing with the blood and blood-forming tissues, including morphology, physiology, and pathology.

Also spelled haematology. -hematologic, hematological, adj. hematology (hē´m n the scientific study of blood and blood-forming tissues. hematology tests, n.pl the diagnostic tests of the blood and its constituent parts. hematology the science dealing with the morphology of blood and blood-forming tissues, and with their physiology and pathology. hematology reference values normal numbers per unit volume of each cell included in a blood count.
