We are still unable to provide the rigorous TATs requested by the Hem/Onc Clinic physicians but are continuing in our improvement efforts.
To meet the turnaround time (TAT) demands of the Hem/Onc Clinic, we began "pre-accessioning" those clinic samples into our laboratory information system (LIS) based on the clinic appointment schedule.
Defined TAT goals for our lab include: Routines (high volume, automated): [less than or equal to] 2 hours Stats: [less than or equal to] 1 hour Hem/Onc Clinic (CBC, PLT, DIFF): [less than or equal to] 30 minutes Emergency Department: [less than or equal to] 30 minutes Liver transplants (HCT, PLT): [less than or equal to] 15 minutes.
