head tiltchin lift maneuver,
n a maneuver used to open the airway of an unconscious patient. The maneuver is performed by placing the palm of one hand on the patient's forehead and applying gentle backward pressure. The fingers of the other hand are placed on the bony part of the chin and the chin is lifted forward. This maneuver lifts the tongue from the back of the throat and reestablishes the airway.
