Patient discussion about has a bee in bonnet.

Q. I was diagnosed with chronic urticaria. What is the reason for this condition? I was diagnosed with chronic urticaria last week after more than two months of urticaria (I have more than twenty 1 dollar coin area no my trunk that are red swollen and itchy). when I was younger I had a similar reaction too a bee sting and I was treated with an adrenalin shoot. Since that one time I never suffered from this kind of symptoms till two months ago. What can be the reason for this condition?

A. As was said before chronic urticaria is a symptom of many problems. I once took NSAIDs for knee pain and I started to itch myself. It took my doctor 3 weeks to understand that I was allergic to this specific drug. I also know that tomatoes can cause me an allergic reaction. Try to think is there anything new in your life? Tell it to the GP maybe he will be able to tell you if this is the reason for your symptoms.

Q. Does a bee allergy always lead to a state of life risk when being stinged? And how is it possible to avoid bees when allergic?

A. Thanks bianca!! I hate bees and actually really afraid to get stinged...

Q. if a bee bit me and i am allergic , what would happen to me , and what is the best treatment?

A. It depends on your previous exposure and response to the bee sting, but it may result in a severe, life threatening response called anaphylaxis. It includes intense itching and rash, runny nose and mouth, abdominal cramps, vomiting, but the life threatening responses are the closure of the throat and airways and collapse of the heart. It's treated with adrenalin and other medications.

It can be prevented first by avoiding the offending agent, and also by carrying an ready to use adrenalin injector in order to treat it quickly. Also, the allergy can be ameliorated by a series of treatments called immunotherapy, in which the allergic individual is exposed to the allergen in minute amount to make him or her not sensitive any more to this allergen.
