hypermotility /hy·per·mo·til·i·ty/ (hi″per-mo-til´ĭ-te) abnormally increased motility, as of the gastrointestinal tract. hypermotility [-motil′itē] an excessive movement of the involuntary muscles, particularly in the GI tract. Compare hypomotility. hypermotility excessive or abnormally increased motility. gut hypermotility decreased transit time for the entire alimentary tract. intestinal hypermotility is characterized by increase in gut sounds, spasms of pain, e.g. in spasmodic colic in horses and, in some cases, diarrhea.
