a peripherally acting antiadrenergic antihypertensive.
indication It is prescribed in the treatment of moderate and severe hypertension.
contraindications Heart failure, concomitant administration of monoamine oxidase inhibitors, pheochromocytoma, or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. It should be avoided in elderly patients.
adverse effects Among the more serious adverse effects are orthostatic hypotension, salt and water retention, bradycardia, diarrhea, and inability to ejaculate.

action: inhibits norepinephrine release, depleting norepinephrine stores in adrenergic nerve endings;
