mamba /mam·ba/ (mahm´bah) any member of the genus Dendroaspis, extremely venomous elapid snakes. Included are the black mamba (D. polylepis), a large black African tree snake, and the green mamba (D. angusticeps), a large green or black tree snake of eastern and southern Africa.
