the exposure dose to the male or female gonad, usually from incidental secondary radiation in diagnostic or therapeutic irradiation, or from whole-body irradiation.
the amount of radiation received by the gonads as a result of a radiographic examination. It may vary from less than 1 mrad for a dental or chest radiograph to 225 mrad for a lumbar spine radiograph. During pelvimetry a fetus receives 800 mrad.
