the companion fish among the aquarium fishes. Gold dorsally shading to yellow on the belly. There are many fancy variants including the veiltail, the shubunkin and the lionhead. Called also Carassius auratus. See also Table 23.

goldfish ulcer disease
ulcers scattered over the body caused by atypical Aeromonas salmonicida; encouraged by high water temperature and overcrowding. Called also GUD.
