Goldenhar's syndrome

Etymology: Maurice Goldenhar, Swiss physician, 20th century
a congenital condition characterized by colobomas of the upper eyelid, dermoids on the eyeball, bilateral accessory auricular appendages anterior to the ears, and vertebral anomalies, frequently associated with characteristic facies, consisting of asymmetry of the skull, prominent frontal bossing, low hairline, mandibular hypoplasia, low-set ears, and sometimes smallness of the mouth on one side. Also called OAV syndrome, oculoauriculovertebral dysplasia.
