Webster's dictionary gives the definition of the word "bum": vagabond (now that's romantic); goldbrick (that's offensive and cruel); hobo, drifter, slug (offensive); loafer, tramp (that's not nice) and a few other colorful nouns that I am sure the American Civil Liberties Union finds demeaning.
A man where the action is, with a ticking bomb behind his office desk and a goldbrick on it: Bruce Spector, 48, chairman of the executive committee at Stutman, Treister & Glatt, one of the nation's leading bankruptcy law firms.
Instead, he chose to list slang and expressions such as goldbrick, snafu, and ``Kilroy was here.
