glycosylceramidase /gly·co·syl·cer·am·i·dase/ (gli-ko″sil-sĕ-ram´ĭ-dās) an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolytic cleavage of β-linked sugar residues from β-glycosides with large hydrophobic aglycons; such activity occurs as part of the β-glycosidase complex, along with lactase, in the intestinal brush border membrane.
