glycosuria /gly·cos·uria/ (su´re-ah) the presence of glucose in the urine. renal glycosuria that due to inherited inability of the renal tubules to reabsorb glucose completely.
glycosuria [glī′kōsoo͡r′ē·ə] Etymology: Gk, glykys + ouron, urine abnormal presence of a sugar, especially glucose, in the urine. Glycosuria can result from the ingestion of large amounts of carbohydrate, or it may be caused by endocrine or renal disorders. It is a finding most routinely associated with diabetes mellitus. glycosuric, adj. glycosuria (gli´kōs n the presence of sugar in the urine. It most commonly results from diabetes mellitus but may occur from a lowered renal threshold (renal glycosuria) in pregnancy, inorganic renal disease, and in patients taking adrenocorticosteroids. glycosuria see glucosuria. glycosuria Glucosuria The spillage of excess glucose into the urine, an event common in uncontrolled DM and in 'renal' glycosuria.
