galvanometer

[gal′vənom′ətər]
Etymology: Luigi Galvani
an instrument used to measure the strength and direction of flow of an electric current. Its action depends on the deflection of a magnetic needle in the field produced by current passing through a coil. A simple galvanometer is used mainly to detect the presence of an electric current. Galvanometers are used in certain diagnostic instruments, such as electrocardiographs.

gal·va·nom·e·ter

(gal'vă-nom'ĕ-ter)
An instrument for measuring the strength of an electric current.

galvanic-faradic test - an electrodiagnostic test of muscles.
galvanism - oral manifestations of direct current electricity occurring when dental restorations with dissimilar electric potentials (such as silver and gold) are placed in the mouth. Synonym(s): voltaism

Another statement, "The galvanometer is only required to be sensitive enough to detect the existence .
Finally, the statement (8), "a galvanometer is most sensitive when its deflection is small .
Regarding the second point, it obviously is not possible to make meaningful comparisons between sensitivities for different devices such as analytical balances [3], galvanometers [9], and photographic emulsions [10] because they all represent different responses of different sensors to different stimuli.
All 2004 and 2005 numbers have been adjusted for the discontinued operations, which included the Company's fiber optic illumination and galvanometers lines and the Company's operation in Singapore.

The Company will either sell to management or exit certain mature components of its product lines, specifically fiber optic illumination, galvanometers, and its Singapore subsidiary.
The A1R model defines a new level of scanning control with resonant and galvanometer scanners that can be used simultaneously and at significantly improved speeds," said Stan Schwartz, vice president of Nikon Instruments.
The A1R includes both galvanometer scanners, which acquire up to four fps, and a resonant scanner.
