galactocerebroside /ga·lac·to·ce·re·bro·side/ (gah-lak″to-sĕ-re´bro-sīd) any of the cerebrosides in which the head group is galactose; they are abundant in the cell membranes of nervous tissue.

a glycosphingolipid with a galactose unit. Called also galactolipid. See globoid cell leukodystrophy.
