distillation /dis·til·la·tion/ (dis″tĭ-la´shun) vaporization; the process of vaporizing and condensing a substance to purify it or to separate a volatile substance from less volatile substances.
destructive distillation , dry distillation decomposition of a solid by heating in the absence of air, resulting in volatile liquid products.
fractional distillation  that attended by the successive separation of volatilizable substances in order of their respective volatility.

distillation [dis″tĭ-la´shun]
the process of vaporizing and condensing a substance to purify it or to separate a volatile substance from less volatile substances. Called also vaporization.
