the quality of remaining stable or unaltered.
form constancy the ability to recognize forms and objects as the same in spite of variation in environment, position, and size.
object constancy the capacity to understand that an absent person or object exists and will return.

Recognition of forms and objects as the same although they appear in various environments, positions, and sizes.

The ability to identify an object even when it is rotated, reversed, or displaced spatially. In reading, for example, it is the ability to identify the similarities and differences between the letters “p” and “q” or the letters “b” and “d.”
