fluoxymesterone /flu·ox·y·mes·ter·one/ (floo-ok″se-mes´ter-ōn) an androgen used in the treatment of male hypogonadism and delayed male puberty and in palliation of metastatic breast carcinoma in postmenopausal women.

an androgenic and anabolic steroid.
indications It is prescribed in the treatment of testosterone deficiency, breast cancer in females, and delayed puberty in males.
contraindications Male breast or prostate cancer, liver disease, known or suspected pregnancy, or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use.
adverse effects It commonly causes priapism in males, menstrual irregularities in females, edema, and acne. Among the more serious adverse effects are anaphylaxis, hypercalcemia, and jaundice.

fluoxymesterone [floo-ok″se-mes´ter-ōn]
