persistent contracture of cervical muscles on one side.

fixed torticollis

Etymology: L, figere, to fasten, tortus, twisted, collum, neck
a condition in which neck muscles on one side are so short that the head is held continuously in the same position. See also torticollis.

An abnormal position of the head owing to organic shortening of the muscles.
